Proms and graduations, sneaking beers in the woods, working through college; all there but in a haze where I think some of it might be imagined. When I think about my wedding day, the first memory my brain lets through the gate is the night before when I was pulled over for the first time.

Making my way to the Botanic Garden, I realized it would be my first cool weather walk through it that wasn’t a commute to or from work since I had moved to Flatbush.

There were no blooms in sight like in the spring, but there were so many different versions of green that it was actually shocking. The two white stone obelisks that flank the Eastern Parkway entrance were the only real interruption to the green aside from the cloudless sky. I had no plans for this afternoon [...]
